Flag of Albania

Flag origins

Red represents courage, sacrifice and blood shed for independence. The black double-headed eagle is a heraldic symbol used in medieval Europe, including the Byzantine Empire.

Flag story

Albanians do not call their country “Albania” in their own language. They call it Shqipëria.
