Flag of Afghanistan

Flag origins

The flag shown mainly uses black, green, red and white. Black is said to represent the past, red the blood shed for independence, and green wealth and hope for the future.

Flag story

The central white emblem depicts a mosque, flanked by small flags. This makes it an unusual example of flags within a flag.
