Flag of Antigua and Barbuda

Flag origins

Red represents the lives and blood of enslaved ancestors and the vitality of the people. Black represents the land and African roots, white sandy beaches, blue the sea and hope, and yellow the sun. The distinctive sun on the horizon is another identifying feature.

Flag story

The sun signifies the end of colonial rule and the beginning of a new Antigua and Barbuda. The V-shaped central design also evokes the V in “Victory.”
