Flag of Armenia

Asia

Flag origins

Red represents the Armenian Highlands, the Armenian people’s struggle for survival, preservation of the Christian faith, independence and freedom. Blue expresses the people’s wish to live beneath peaceful skies. Orange represents Armenian creative talent and diligence.

Flag story

Rather than inventing a flag after independence, Armenia revived the memory of its independent state of 1918, about seventy years later, across the intervening Soviet era.
